*A “Priority Bill” designation is assigned to legislation that Wyoming Family Alliance has chosen to concentrate its time, resources, and advocacy efforts on. While many pro-family bills align with our mission, only a limited number can be designated as priorities each session to ensure effective and focused engagement.
SUMMARY:
This bill mandates that school districts in Wyoming provide suicide prevention education to students. It establishes a new section, W.S. 21-9-105, which requires educational programs to be delivered in an appropriate manner, including age-appropriate and evidence-based approaches. The programs must align with existing suicide prevention education materials and training outlined in W.S. 21-2-202(a)(xxxv) and W.S. 21-3-110(a)(xxxiii).
The act is set to take effect on July 1, 2026, ensuring that schools have time to develop and implement the required suicide prevention education programs.
