Our History
Wyoming Family Alliance began as Family Policy Alliance of Wyoming, a member of Family Policy Alliance, a political advocacy partner of Focus on the Family. On October 1, 2022, Family Policy Alliance of Wyoming changed its name to Wyoming Family Alliance and became an independent ally of Family Policy Alliance and the many other states represented by an independent family policy council.
Wyoming Family Alliance Action is the state’s foremost family advocacy group, standing for the timeless principles of life, liberty, family values, and educational opportunity. Operating under our 501(c)(4), our team works directly on the frontline of politics and policy to advance pro-family legislation, rally like-minded Wyoming voters to the polls, and make your voice heard.
Operating under our 501(c)(3) Wyoming Family Alliance Foundation, our team works throughout the state to build stronger family policy alliances, train pro-family statesmen, and keep you informed about issues that affect your family.
Our Staff
Nathan Winters | President & CEO
Nathan Winters is a husband, father, pastor, former Wyoming Legislator, and President of Wyoming Family Alliance.
Nathan grew up in Wyoming. After earning both his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees out of state, he returned to serve as one of the pastors at First Baptist Church of Thermopolis for over 12 years. While in Thermopolis, he also served on the Hot Springs County Counseling Center board of directors and on the board of Missionary Tech Team.
Nathan has also been involved in Republican politics for many years, both at the local and state levels and as an official in various roles for the state party. Nathan served in the Wyoming House of Representatives which included work on several key committees overseeing issues ranging from economic development to mineral policy, agriculture, public lands, and program auditing. In his third term, he was elected chairman of the House Republican Caucus and Vice-Chairman of the Judiciary Committee.
Nathan has a passion for reigniting the discussion of self-evident truth in our government and our culture. He puts these motivations to work daily as the President & CEO of Wyoming Family Alliance Action and Wyoming Family Alliance Foundation, the Board Chairman of Cheyenne Classical Academy (a Hillsdale College Curriculum School), his graduate studies in Historical Theology, Vice Chairman of the Laramie County Republican Party, and as a Lay-Pastor at Capital City Church.
Nathan and his wife, Christie, live in Cheyenne and are the parents of three wonderful teens.
Gena Konrad-Cone | Director of Operations & Communications
Gena Konrad-Cone is a proud and dedicated citizen of Cheyenne, Wyoming. However, she was born in Iowa and raised in a suburb of Portland, Oregon, where she grew up as the daughter of a Baptist pastor.
After spending several years immersed in biblical and elementary education studies at Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny, Iowa, and at Western Baptist College in Salem, Oregon, Gena went on to have three children, develop and teach classes for children and adults, manage rental properties, manage consultative sales, and run a small online business. As her kids grew, she returned to school, graduating cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration: Management & Communication from Corban University (formerly Western Baptist College).
Working 13 years for the Oregon Employment Department as a Training & Development Specialist and Business & Employment Specialist, she developed and delivered multi-platform content throughout the state to agency staff, partner agencies, schools, businesses, and the general public. In her roles, she served as a consultant and liaison for upper management, middle management, and employees.
Gena and her husband are self-described political refugees from Eugene, Oregon. They are empty-nesters with a blended family of six adult children and two grandchildren
Kari Cline | Legislative Strategy Manager
Kari Cline is a Wyoming native and takes great pride in working to make Wyoming a great state for families.
She has experience in non-profit and association management, event planning, and government relations. She has led multiple organizations in implementing new programs, membership recruitment, and organizational sustainability. She has been a registered Wyoming Lobbyist for over twenty years.
After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, and prior to her work in non-profit and association management, she was an Environment Chemist and Quality Assurance Manager in both the private and public sectors. Her transition to association management and working in advocacy came out of a personal desire to utilize her strong organizational and relationship management skills. She is currently a member of the Wyoming Society of Association Executives, the International Association of Optometric Executives, and the Capitol Club.
Kari lives in Cheyenne and enjoys outdoor activities, such as golf, reading, pickleball, and spending time with her grown children.
Sady Amend | Gifts & Partnership Liasion
Sady Amend is a Wyoming native raised in Cheyenne. Growing up, her family instilled in her a love of the outdoors,
a strong Christian faith, the value of education, and pride in the great
state of Wyoming.
Sady received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Wyoming and her Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University.
Sady’s ten years of teaching experience include third and fourth grade in Riverton, Wyoming, and California. She and her husband moved back to Cheyenne, Wyoming, in 2022.
She enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, participating in their local church, homemaking, and reading.
Krista Riester | Pro-Life Liasion
Krista Riester is a Navy brat and current Navy Wife who is proud to call Cheyenne home, at least until the needs of the Navy call again.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, and living in Virginia, England, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Italy, New Hampshire, Tennessee, and Hawaii have given her a unique perspective on this great Nation and the world, which she is grateful for. Despite her nomadic life, she has always stayed rooted in Christ and her family. She has visited 39 states and 13 countries.
Krista reentered the workforce now that all her children are in school, but she first and foremost considers her primary job to be that of Wife and Mother. She and her husband, AJ, have two teenage daughters and a son who all play in their schools’ band/orchestra. During her years as a stay-at-home mom, she remained active in her community and church. She enjoys making her family a home-cooked dinner every night, traveling, discussing her faith and Conservative politics, watching movies, and reading anything about history, culture, language, and theology.
Douglas Cone | Accounting & Human Resources Coordinator
Raised in a small farm town in Northern California, Douglas Cone initially had a strong desire to pursue a career in agriculture. Although he initially earned an A.A. degree in Accounting and even spent five years working for the IRS, he went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Production Management from Utah State
University.
After graduation, he worked in agriculture until several livestock mishaps and knee problems took him from the inside of corrals and put him behind a desk. He then returned his focus to accounting, moved to Oregon, and spent over ten years in CPA firms performing accounting and tax preparation for a wide variety of businesses and organizations.
The political climate of Oregon eventually led Doug and his wife to research states that were friendlier to conservatives. Wyoming quickly rose to the top of their criteria list, and they made Cheyenne their home in 2022.
In addition to handling accounting and human resources for Wyoming Family Alliance, Doug also operates Pine Canyon Bookkeeping, a bookkeeping, payroll, and accounting practice.
