Family Policy Alliance of Wyoming is excited to announce a new member of the Wyoming team!
So much is happening. Strategically speaking, the policy and cultural threats and opportunities around the state are really keeping us hopping. We have urgently needed more help, and we couldn’t be happier to introduce you to our new colleague.
Robin Roberts grew up in Central California and after high school attended the local community college, where he obtained an AA degree in Geology. He moved to Fresno State where he earned his B.A. in Electricity/Electronics with minors in music and history. Called to the ministry after graduation, he earned an M.A. in Christian Education with a minor in Biblical Studies and served as a youth pastor and pastor at Nazarene churches in Kings County, California.
After a period of ministry, he returned to school and earned multiple teaching credentials from Fresno State. He taught for over twenty years at Pioneer Union Elementary School in Hanford and was instrumental in helping it become the first Charter School District in the state of California.
He returned to Fresno State a third time to earn a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, a School Administration Credential and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Instructional Technology. He was named the Graduate Dean’s Medalist for the Kremen School of Education and Human Development and his master’s thesis was chosen as the Outstanding Thesis of the largest graduating class in Kremen history.
Encouraged by his professors to continue his education, Robin entered the doctoral program at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and graduated with his Ph.D. in Learning and Technology. Following graduation, Robin taught at Chapman/Brandman College, UNLV, and Fresno State before retiring in 2015.
In 2017, Robin and his wife Sylvia moved to Cheyenne to retire. When asked why they moved to Wyoming, Robin says:
“I moved to Wyoming because it is what the California of my youth used to be and what I wished it still was. The California of my youth has disappeared. I watched it become over-crowded and ultra-liberal and felt like a stranger in my own land. I looked at every state in the nation for a place to live that reminded me of the California I’d lost. Wyoming is that place and I want to do everything I can to keep it that way. That’s why I joined Nathan Winters and the Family Policy Alliance: To help keep Wyoming free. I wasn’t born here, but this is the place I chose—out of all others—in which to spend the rest of my life.”
Robin is the author of numerous books and articles and lives with his wife, Sylvia, in Cheyenne. They have six grandchildren and attend Cheyenne Hills Church, where he is a member of the church worship team.
