*A “Priority Bill” designation is assigned to legislation that Wyoming Family Alliance has chosen to concentrate its time, resources, and advocacy efforts on. While many pro-family bills align with our mission, only a limited number can be designated as priorities each session to ensure effective and focused engagement.
SUMMARY:
The bill amends Wyoming law to prohibit adult sex offenders from residing within one thousand feet of child care facilities. Specifically, it adds a new provision stating that individuals who are required to register as sex offenders cannot live within this distance from the property line of a child care facility, with exceptions for those whose residences were established before July 1, 2026, or before the establishment of the child care facility.
Additionally, the bill provides a definition for “child care facility,” which includes various types of facilities that provide care for children in exchange for payment, excluding elementary, middle, or high schools. The effective date for this legislation is set for July 1, 2026.
