*A “Priority Bill” designation is assigned to legislation that Wyoming Family Alliance has chosen to concentrate its time, resources, and advocacy efforts on. While many pro-family bills align with our mission, only a limited number can be designated as priorities each session to ensure effective and focused engagement.
SUMMARY:
The bill amends Wyoming’s stalking laws to introduce a felony penalty specifically for stalking offenses committed against minors. It modifies the existing statute by adding a new provision that states a person can be charged with felony stalking if they commit the offense against a minor and are at least eighteen years old. This addition aims to enhance protections for minors from stalking behaviors.
Additionally, the bill removes the conjunction “or” from the list of conditions under which stalking is classified as a felony, thereby clarifying the criteria for felony charges. The effective date for this legislation is set for July 1, 2026.
